The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) is aware
that the participation of experts in research is crucial to ensure
that this research is committed and progresses on a full-time basis.
Since the area of research affects the excellence of knowledge of
an institution/university, its undertaking must be encouraged and
emphasized in order to attract experienced researchers in specific
areas.
In this context, MOSTI has revised the Doctoral Scheme which was
promulgated during the economic crisis of 1997. The Scheme was reactivated
with effect from 24 September 2001.
The objectives of the Scheme is to provide opportunities to scientists
and researchers to undertake full-time research in public institutions
of learning in Malaysia. Potential candidates are classified into
three categories:
